fabulous vacation!!! but disturbing return home experience…

flower market at Pike’s Market, Seattle — gorgeous!!! ($6 a bunch — awesome price and so so so so beautiful!)Well, we had a wonderful vacation ~ our daughter is beautiful (inside and out) and it was amazing to have 5 uninterrupted days with her — a very nice amazing!! I will post photos and stories soon.
However, our return to our home was disturbing — we arrived after a “red-eye” flight (and minimal sleep) to find a neighbor’s car in the driveway, and two teens (the one 14 year old we’d entrusted to tend to our pugs while we were away — with her mother, and a friend of the teen — with her father) — in our basement (where we have a ping pong table) mopping the floor.
We learned that two nights before our return, our home was “party central” to 12+ teenagers — boys and girls — with lots of alcohol. As we sat, somewhat stunned, and as we realized more and more of the damage and liberties taken, we are angrier. SO hard to believe that they’d be stupid enough to invite so many here, allow them in with alcohol — allow them to use our beds (and leave trace evidence of drugs — ecstasy? not sure) and use of the beds (disgusting) and in our cupboards and closets and showers and obviously party central. 14 year olds – 15 year olds — over twelve of them — all whose parents didn’t know where their kids were at 3 a.m.??? all apparently had ‘covers’ of staying at each others’ houses for overnights.
We’re still trying to figure out what we should learn from this and how to ensure that the children involved learn something from it…
not fun. not nice. not kind. not a ‘welcome home’ that we deserved. sigh.
