Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China (Jung Chang)

I’m thoroughly enjoying the first 60+ pages of this book (picked it up this week at the SPCA Rummage Sale store for $1):  Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China, by Jung Chang.

Books that offer insights into other cultures and day-to-day lives (past and present) are a favorite read of mine.  This fascinating book is described by LA Times, “There has never been a book like this.  Jung Chang vividly evokes China’s sights, sounds and smells to create what must be one of the grimmest, yet most perceptive accounts of growing up middle-class in the maelstrom that has swept China since the 1920s.”

So far, I quite agree.
