fresh vegetables!

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Just a quick note — summer is such a grand time for fresh produce here in Charlottesville.
Tonight we enjoyed a stir-fry of fresh summer squash, broccoli, scallions, garlic, orange and yellow peppers, celery — in a bit of sesame oil — yummm! I ate mine wrapped in sesame leaves for an extra treat.
Sometimes the simplest [...]

Storytelling photos

Monday, June 16th, 2008

As you may know, I am the producer of a TV show — sounds exciting, right?!  It’s really  not so grand — I’m definitely in the amateur status range… and it’s a show with only one new episode per month — and it’s Public Access TV… but still — it’s true!

sesame leaves

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

I LOVE sesame leaves (and yes, I’m ’shouting’ — I LOVE these delectable leaves!).
I tutor several Korean adults, all of whom make frequent trips to the nearest (2+ hours away) H-Mart store for Asian food items they cannot find here in Charlottesville (VA).   I’ve made it quite crystal clear that I will adore them forever [...]

I so often wish that we could spare/find/make the time and money to take an extended travel trip across the USA — there’s so much to see [...]

Kandahar (movie); disquieting…

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

I’m an odd one when it comes to movie-watching.  Where do people find the time to watch so many movies?  We’ve purchased Netflix subscriptions (http://netflix.com) for others as gifts, and for us have a “one at a time” subscription.  As those familiar with Netflix will know, one wonderful aspect of their memberships is that you [...]

My next two stories chosen for Tales from around the world TV show!

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Hello world!
Today I decided upon the next two stories I will retell for the TV show I produce on Public Access Television,
Tales from Around the World.
Two delightful books:  A Ride On the Red Mare’s Back [a story originally from Sweden] (written by Ursula K Le Guin and paintings by Julie Downing) –
and also
Tukama Tootles the [...]
